More Affordable Rivian EVs

Rivian is making its vehicles more affordable with the R2 starting price expected to be around $45,000. The R3 will be available at an even lower price point. You can reserve your R2 now in the U.S. for a $100 deposit, with deliveries anticipated in the first half of 2026. To ensure a smooth launch, deliveries for the R3 and R3X models will follow the R2’s rollout.

Reservations and Production

Rivian is taking steps to streamline the launch of the R2 and reduce costs. Customers in the U.S. can now reserve the R2 on the company’s website. To achieve this quicker launch and lower spending, Rivian will begin production at its existing factory in Normal, Illinois. This allows them to leverage their existing infrastructure and workforce while simultaneously increasing the plant’s capacity to produce 215,000 vehicles annually.

Future Plans

Rivian’s Georgia plant remains crucial for future R2 and R3 production ramp-up. Construction will resume at a later date to prioritize the capital-efficient launch of R2 in Illinois.

“I am thrilled to launch R2 and R3. They offer Rivian’s signature performance, capability, and usability at a price point that reaches a wider audience. Our focus on innovation extends beyond features to the manufacturing process, achieving significant cost reductions. R2 provides a compelling option with a well-developed technology platform, starting at $45,000”
