One of the most anticipated scooters in the Indian EV industry has now been launched and it is truly mind blowing. The Ola Electric Scooter is packed with high-end specifications and features. Not only the specs are stunning but the price of this scooter is also insane. The scooter received more than 1 lakh+ reservations within 24 hrs when the pre-orders started. The launch event held live on YouTube and Ola’s official website on August 15.

Prices and Variants
Ola has launched two variants of its scooter, the S1 and the S1Pro. The S1 is the base variant and is priced at Rs 99,999 and S1 Pro, which offers more range and speed than the S1, is priced at Rs 1,29,999. The prices mentioned do not include state subsidies. The pre-order for scooter has earlier started at just Rs 499, which is fully refundable.

Ola has partnered with major banks to provide their customers EMI options while buying the electric scooter. The EMI options starts from as low as Rs 2,999 / month.

The scooter has a 7 inch large TFT display which shows a ton of information. The display has 4 different interfaces according to your mood and every interface has there own sound same as Revolt bikes.

You don’t get a physical key to unlock or lock your scooter. Your phone is the key to unlock your scooter. When you approach your scooter, it automatically unlocks and when you walk away from scooter, it locks. But if you’re thinking, what if I don’t have my phone with me, you can unlock your scooter by manually entering a password into your scooter’s screen.
The S1 Pro variant has three additional features, hill hold function, cruise control and voice assistant (say “Hey Ola“). The app shows you information like the charge level of your scooter, tracking of your scooter, anti-theft alarm, geo fencing.
Other features include seamless navigation, calling, messaging, location sharing, sidestand alert, reverse mode, predictive maintenance, ride journal, auto brightness, remote boot unlock, dark mood, roadside assistance, auto indicator off, share key, take me home lights, limp home, emergency contact alert, and much more.

Booking and Delivery
As mentioned earlier, the pre-order of the scooter has already started at a price of just Rs 499 which is fully refundable. Book your Ola Electric Scooter on Ola’s website.
Ola has took a different approach from the rest, there will be no showrooms and the scooter will be delivered directly at your doorstep. Since there will be no showrooms, the question is what about maintenance. Maintenance will be done at your home as well. You just need to book an appointment through the Ola Electric app and a technician will come to your home.
The scooter will be available for purchase from September 8 and deliveries will start from October.
Ola Hypercharger Network
Ola plans to build the world’s largest 2-wheeler charging network, called “Hypercharger Network”. The plan is to set up 1 lakh charging points across 400 cities and in the first year itself, Ola will set up 5000 charging points across 100 cities in India. Ola said that these hyperchargers will be placed in city centers and dense commercial areas as standalone towers.
You will find units of this huge charging network at public places like malls, IT parks, cafes, colleges, office complexes and more. With the Ola app, you can easily find a charging station near you. With a charging station from Ola, you can get 75 km of range in just 18 minutes.
However, Ola has not yet announced an exact timeline by when it will be able to install the complete Hypercharger Network across the country.
Ola e-scooter factory
Ola is building the largest, most sustainable and most advanced 2-wheeler factory in the world. To make this possible, Ola is investing Rs 2,400 crore. The factory is located in Hosur, Tamil Nadu on an area of 500 acres. It will be covered with 100 acres of forest from outside and there will be 2 acres of forest inside the factory.
The factory is expected to create 10,000 jobs and it will largely focus on automation which will be achieved by using advanced machines and 3000 AI controlled robots. There will be 100% in-house battery manufacturing and 25000 motors will be assembled per day.
When completed in 2022, it will be capable of producing 10 million units per year, which means a scooter will be produced every 2 seconds. Phase I, which is currently underway, will have a production capacity of 2 million units.
